These guidelines aim to provide Mediterranean decision-makers and stakeholders with an evidence-based sustainability roadmap to exploit the opportunities of both sectors while mitigating their negative effects on marine and coastal ecosystems, associated biodiversity, climate, air quality and local communities.

The guidelines are the result of a participatory process through a working group of about a hundred actors set up by Plan Bleu, bringing together representatives of the private sector, local, national, and regional authorities, NGOs, researchers, and international organizations working in the sector. It is a great example of collaborative work of three Interreg Med Horizontal projects: Blue Growth Community, Sustainable Tourism and Mediterranean Biodiversity Communities. This report has been edited by Plan Bleu - Regional Activity Centre of UNEP/MAP.

This publication has been made possible through the work of the working group members who are listed at the end of the report. Hence, from Plan Bleu would like to thank the stakeholders for contributing to the elaboration of this report. Their contributions were highly appreciated and helpful regarding their experience and professional expertise.
